Seven decades ago, on 26thJanuary, our Constitution came into effect. Even before that, this date had acquired special significance. Having resolved to attain ‘Purna Swaraj’, our people had been celebrating ‘Purna Swaraj Day’ every 26th January, from 1930 to 1947. That is why, on 26th January1950, we embarked on our journey as a Republic, affirming to the principles laid down in our Constitution. Since then, every year we celebrate our Republic Day on 26th January.
The 71st Republic Day celebration at CMR University started with the unfurling of the tri-coloured national flag, followed by the national anthem, post which, a formal program was organized in the AV Hall. Mr. Zubair from 1st year B.A.hosted the program.The program commenced with an introductory speech by Mr. SaqlainMustaqfrom 1st year B.B.A. The Vice Chancellor of CMR University, Prof. M. S.Shivakumar addressed the gathering and highlighted upon the significance of Republic Day and the role of the youth in developing the nation.He also threw light on the contributions made by our national leaders towards the development of the country. The program came to an endwith a cultural performance by the student body, which made the celebration colorful.
