CMR  University and CMR Group of Institutions Bengaluru celebrated its Founders’ Day on 19 November 2021 at the CMR University Main Campus in Bagalur, Bengaluru. This event was graced by Shri Arvind Limbavali, Former Minister, Government of Karnataka & Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly-Mahadevapura Constituencyalong with Sri K.C. Ramamurthy, IPS (Retd.), Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) & Chairman, CMR Group of Institutions as the Chief Guests. Dr Sabitha Ramamurthy, President, CMR Jnanadhara Trust & Chancellor, CMR University presided over the event. Sri K.R. Jayadeep – Pro Chancellor CMR University, Dr Tristha Ramamurthy – Provost & Vice Chancellor, CMR University, Smt. Shreya Reddy – Director of Finance and HR, CMR Group of Institutions, Shri. K.C. Jagannath Reddy – Secretary, CMR Jnanadhara Trust, Shri. K.C. Raju Reddy, Trustee, CMR Jnanadhara Trust and Shri Lakshmish, Trustee, CMR Jnanadhara Trust were also present on the dais. 

The occasion also witnessed the inauguration of the Cafeteria Block at the CMR University main campus, along with Bhoomi Puja of the Staff Housing Block that is being constructed at the campus. Sri Arvind Limbavali along with the management of the CMR Group of Institutions declared the cafeteria open, and performed the bhoomi pooja for the staff housing block.

During the event, the esteemed guests also paid homage to the inspiration behind the CMR Group – Sri Chikka Muniyappa Reddy and Smt. Ashwathamma Chikka Muniyappa Reddy, and awarded employees having contributed 25 years, 20 years, 15 years, 10 years, and 5 years of exemplary service to the CMR Group of Institutions. The distinguished guests handed over the plaques and certificates to the achievers. In all, a total of 265 employees received the honour from the distinguished guests. These achievements were attributed to the low attrition rate at the organization and a conducive work atmosphere.

Speaking at the event, Sri Aravind Limbavali reminisced about his days as an engineering student and his interactions with Sri K.C. Ramamurthy who was then, Registrar of Bengaluru University. He further elaborated on the need for the creation of an atmosphere conducive to the growth of Higher education in the State of Karnataka. He noted the fact that this great state has always pioneered the cause of Higher Education and observed that the private universities too have made great contributions in this regard. He further emphasised that committed educational institutions like the CMR Group need to be provided as much support from the outside as possible and expressed his intent to assist the CMR Group of Institutions in their future endeavours. Shri. Limbavali further remarked on the social impact that educational institutions have on society and lauded the efforts of the CMR Group spearheaded by Shri. K.C. Ramamurthy in this regard. He recounted how, Shri. K.C. Ramamurthy has never turned down a request for assistance in lowering the fees or otherwise helping any student in need. 

Sri K.C. Ramamurthy acknowledged the contribution of both the teaching and non-teaching staff at the CMR Group of Institutions and detailed how the Group was committed to protecting employees’ interests which is evident by the fact that layoffs during the Covid-19 period were low. He also stressed on the importance of enriching educational experiences for students through the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and about CMR University having a dedicated Curriculum Development Team.

Dr Sabitha, while congratulating the winners of the distinguished service awards, said that employees were the key to the organization’s growth and emphasized on the need to work together to contribute to future successes as a family. 

Earlier in the event, while welcoming the gathering, Dr Tristha also emphasized on the need to recognize employees’ contribution and thereby work in tandem towards implementing the NEPP 2020 which is student-centric.

The Registrar of CMR University Dr. R. Praveen, proposed the Vote of Thanks in culmination of the event.
