No, prior teaching experience is not a prerequisite for the programme. The programme has detailed modules built-in to provide students with knowledge of teaching pedagogy and teaching practice to make them classroom ready.

The minimum requirement for the programme is to have a Graduate degree in any discipline.

We recommend that aspiring students of the Master of Arts in Education programme also work towards getting their B.Ed degree or any equivalent degree that can help them advance their career as a teacher.

The Master of Arts in Education programme is very relevant to practising teachers. The programme will expose them to the latest teaching methodologies and give candidates a new and progressive outlook to teaching.

The teaching residency is an internship programme – During the Teaching Residency, the students of the Master of Arts in Education programme will be teaching as full time teachers with one of our partner schools. In this period the students will get hands on experience of being a teacher while they continue to be mentored by expert teachers and faculty.

The School of Education is associated with all the leading schools in Bangalore. Students of the Master of Arts in Education programme will have access to all our partner schools for their residency. The selection criteria will be dependent on the partner school and they reserve the right to accept or reject a candidate.

Selection of the residency school will be dependent on the students performance during the Master of Arts in Education programme. The selection criteria will also depend on availability of teaching positions specific to the student’s specialization at the partner school.
