Programme Overview

  • Intellectual Property Law deals with the rules that secures and protects legal rights to inventions, designs and works of art. It also protects the ownership of personal property. This programme provides an in-depth knowledge in all areas of Intellectual Property law like trademarks, patent,
    copyrights etc.
  • Besides the traditional fields, it is also necessary that a student learns some courses covering Pharmaceutical, IT, Mechanical, Chemical and Biotechnology Patent Practice so that he/she gains advanced knowledge of the issues that can arise in this field. It is also necessary that they study novelty searches and hands-on training, patent prosecution, biotech patent law, copyrights and unfair trade competition.
  • The University follows the Annual Scheme for the PG Diploma Programmes. The duration of the programme shall be one year.

Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s Degree of any discipline from any recognized University or abroad recognised by UGC / AIU.

Programme Educational Objectives

  • To inculcate in the student an attitude for critical analysis of the fundamental concepts of Intellectual Property law.
  • To enable the student in understanding, interpreting and making a comparative study of the various municipal and international laws related to Intellectual Property.
  • To analyse the various international conventions, treaties. model laws and policy documents and appreciate their role in shaping the international Intellectual Property Laws.

  • On successful completion of this programme the student will be able to comprehend, analyse, assimilate and apply knowledge related to Intellectual property Law.
