Applicants should have passed the qualifying examination of Ten plus Two(10+2) or its equivalent examination from any streams including Science, Commerce and Arts/Humanities from any State board or CBSE/ICSE/NIOS/IB. Mathematics as one of the subjects will be desirable.
Applicants should have passed the Diploma (10+3 pattern) of any stream with minimum 50% aggregate marks from Technical Board of Karnataka or any other state or from a college/university established under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 will be eligible to apply for the programme.
All Applicants have to clear the admission process comprising a studio test and a personal interview to become eligible for B.Des. admissions. Candidates who have qualified in any one of the design aptitude tests including NATA, NID, NIFT or UCEED will be given preference in the admission process.

The evaluation is based on the Continuous and Comprehensive evaluation(CCE) and Term end examination (TEE). The CCE is done by the course teacher / teachers on a continuous basis through out the semester as prescribed for studio courses, theory courses and practical courses. The criteria for passing is a minimum of 50 percent in the CCE and 40 percent in TEE. The aggregate of CCE and TTE will form the basis for letter grades and the calculation of semester Grade Point Average (SGPA), and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
