Inauguration of new CMR University 66-acre Campus and Engineering Block

31 August 2017: CMR University inaugurated its sprawling 66-acre campus along with its new Engineering Block and first-of-its-kind Rapid Prototype Lab today at Chagalatti, Off Hennur-Bagalur Main Road, in the presence of Chief Guests, Shri. Krishna Byre Gowda, Honorable Minister of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka & Dr. H.C Mahadevappa, Honorable Minister of Public Works Department, Government of Karnataka. The 1,50,000 sq. ft. School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) block, which is ready for occupation was unveiled in the first phase. Other dignitaries who were present at the event were Shri. K. C. Ramamurthy, Rajya Sabha MP & Chairman, CMR Group of Institutions, Dr. K. Balaveera Reddy, Former Vice Chancellor, VTU, Dr. K.P Gopalakrishna, Chairman, National Education Trust and Dr. Sabitha Ramamurthy, Chancellor, CMR University.

The SOET has 30 classrooms and 20 laboratories along with state of the art 3D printing and laser cutting facilities, including a Design Thinking and Rapid Prototyping laboratory.

On the occasion, CMR University also launched the “Go Green” theme for the campus. This is a programme to convert the new campus into a green belt by planting about 30,000 trees within a year. This initiative will be later extended to the nearby villages, with the involvement of students. There will also be efforts made to rejuvenate the lakes in and around the campus and increase the groundwater level.

Speaking at the occasion, Shri. Krishna Byre Gowda said, “CMR Group of Institutions has grown phenomenally, by providing the best education that is required to build the students’ aspirations. This newly launched CMR University will also be instrumental in the development of the area.” He urged the students to exercise responsibility towards society and be a part of the global community.

Dr. H.C Mahadevappa said, “Students should take on the challenges through intellectual means, disciplined life and hard work. CMR University will provide the best-in-class facilities for the students that will help shape their future.”

CMR University has been established with the vision to nurture creative thinkers who will drive positive global change and the institute aims to promote and undertake the advancement of higher education in all sectors of general and professional education.
