FAQs for International Students

 How does CMRU define an International Student?

‘International students’ at CMR University are defined as foreign nationals who study at CMR University either in the Undergraduate or Postgraduate or Doctorate programs or any Executive programs on a ‘University student’ visa, as defined by the Government of India. Further to be classified as ‘International Students’ at CMR University, the students studying are expected to possess a valid ‘Student visa’.

A student Visa is a visa specifically for the students wanting to come to India for education purpose. Student Visas are issued for the duration of the academic course of study or for a period of five years whichever is less, on the basis of letters of admission from Universities / recognized colleges or educational institutions in India. Such individuals on the aforesaid Visas are classed as International Students.

 What are the pre-requisites for procuring a student visa?

  • To be eligible for a student visa, admission to a particular program should be confirmed by the University. The Admission letter from the CMRU can be used for obtaining the Indian Student Visa.
  • The visa covers the duration of the program, or for a period of five years, whichever is lesser.

 What are the steps for admission to CMRU?

  • Steps for admission @ CMRU
  • Visit the Admissions Department @ CMRU
  • Fill in the Registration form for free counselling session and finalise the Program of your choice.
  • Submit your documents for verification
    • Marks Card of Grade X or equivalent
    • Marks Card of Grade XI and XII or equivalent
    • Marks Cards of Graduation
    • Transcript till Grade XII (for admission into UG) and transcripts till the graduation (for admission into PG) and transcripts till Post graduation for admission into Research programs.
    • Copy of the passport
  • Fill in the application and submit along with the required documents.
  • Pay the fees and confirm your seat.
  • Bonafide certificate will be issued from the University on payment of the tuition fees for the first year.

 What are the additional documents required for foreign students?

Additional documents in case of NRI / Foreign students:

  • Certificate from last Board studies.
  • Equivalence and Eligibility Certificate from Association of Indian Universities or CMR University
  • Photographs: 6 Passport size, 6 Stamp size
  • Any other relevant document, as required

 What are the post-arrival requisites?

  • Customs formalities

  • Registration with the police:

All International Students (except those from Nepal and Bhutan) have to register with the police within 14 days (in case of Afghanistan and Bangladesh within 7 days) of their arrival in India along with their students visa, bonafide certificate from the university and residential address proof at the following address:

  • Stay arrangements:
    • International hostel facility for both boys and girls are separately available. The hostels are well furnished with spacious comfortable rooms, lounges, TV, magazines and recreational facilities. The meals are hygienic, nutritionally balanced and served on time.
    • Resident warden strengthens the student’s sense of security and helps them feel at home.
    • The University also provides them with transit accommodation wherein the students can be housed until they finalise on the hostel accommodation.

 Is there an International Student’s Office in the University?

Presently, all international students can contact the Admissions Office at the CMRU for any queries or clarifications they need. The Admissions office serves the incoming and currently enrolled international students at the University. The contact details of Admissions department are as follows:

 What are the unique assistance for International Students @ CMRU?

Following are some of the unique assistance provided to International Students @ CMRU:

  • Each student is allotted a mentor to assist them with personal and career counselling in addition to providing support and guidance in academic, curricular, extracurricular activities.
  • The University has senior international students who are a part of the buddy learning system.
  • The University has introduced the skype facility wherein the mentors can interact with the parents of the foreign students to update them about the progress.
  • Conduct value-added courses specific to international student requirements like foreign language, computer skills, etc.
  • CMRU liaisons with the Ministry of External Affairs / ICCR, HRD and AICTE for Central Government Scholarships.
