Prof. Nithya has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Hindustan College of Engineering (Anna University), and a master’s degree in architecture from IIT-Roorkee. During her course of study, she underwent a training course in Auroville Earth Institute, Pondicherry, on “Building with arches vaults and domes” conducted by Ar.Satprem. She then worked at Mandala Architects, Bangalore for a year. Later she worked as an assistant professor at School of Architecture M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore. Then she moved to London where she worked for 4 years in the London Bridge area London, UK as a self-employed consultant. Her work involved product and space design, surveying, production of drawings and specifications for construction teams that work on renovating Victorian age buildings and create office and residential spaces out of them.
