Ar. Akshara Verma has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from RV School of Architecture, Bangalore and an M.Sc degree in architecture from ‘The Berlage Centre for Advanced Architecture & Urban Design, TU Delft’, The Netherlands. Her undergraduate thesis received national acclaim at the COA-NIASA Annual Thesis Awards in 2011. She took up an apprenticeship with Sumanagala Jayatillake in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2009, and then worked as a junior architect at Samira Rathod Design Associates, Mumbai from 2011-13. During this period she spearheaded a research initiative for SPADE India Research Cell. She also contributed as graphic designer for volume 04 of the SPADE journal titled ‘Opium and Architecture’. She has also worked in the Netherlands with OOZE Architects and Urbanism on environmentally conscious installations, designed for tropical countries. She also was an installation designer, heading the design of an interactive-installation using 360 degree projection with Studio Spomenik at the International Architecture Biennale, Rotterdam.
