In the new normal, with online classes and students being mostly confined indoors, academic activities have become purely technology-driven. Under these changed circumstances, it becomes crucial for students to also adapt to changing routines when it comes to studies. Here, time management plays a vital role as far as ensuring continuity in academics and online learning is concerned. With time management being the focus, check out below effective techniques through which you could manage time efficiently while getting to spend sufficient time on all other essential activities as well:

Prioritizing tasks – Before you indulge in studying the academic aspects taught to you over online classes, you must first make notes about which aspects to prioritize and make a study to-do list accordingly. Rate your chapters/units appropriately; also check with your professors/teachers on which tasks to prioritize, how to make a to-do list for study, and ensure that you have a ready reckoner of important topics to study. Learn these and proceed to the next topics that would take significantly lesser time to master. Prepare your ready reckoner for an entire month; this would indicate the most important aspects that you would need to master; and thereby better manage time.

Having clear focus – After you have created a list of priority tasks to be done as far as studying is concerned, ensure that you focus on these tasks clearly and dedicatedly. You must not deviate from this list under ordinary circumstances. Tick the topics that you have learnt before you move to the next topics. Based on the priority of the tasks and study to-do list you have made, tick each one of them in order of learning. Focus on the order of priority as well. Don’t jump this queue and go to other tasks.

Completing one thing at a time –  While you adapt the above scientific methods, ensure that you completely finish one task at a time; rather than setting your mind on mastering multiple aspects. In this way, you ensure that time is managed better while also being able to allocate significant time to all the tasks that you have created (in the study to-do list).

Beginning your day early – This is a proven classic approach. Starting your study early helps in allocating time for all your priority study tasks. If done right, you would also be able to complete your day early and still have time for non-study activities such as playingindoor games, spending quality time with the family, etc. Beginning your day significantly early is the best approach to manage time while you study and master your academic concepts whilst attending classes from home.

Taking quality breaks between studies – While you study, it becomes imminent that you also need a refresher and time to catch some fresh air between your schedules. Now, this does not amount to  wasting time but rather refreshing your mind so that you are energized when you resume studying. Taking breaks between studying is good; ensure that these are quality breaks; do not overindulge in stuff such as video-gaming and watching the television for long hours. One proven mind refreshing activity is playing a quick indoor game that is in line with your interests.  You can also take power naps so that your mind is eager to restart and thereby can potentially master topics with ease and within a short period of time. These ensure that you get to manage time effectively during studies without feeling overburdened.
