Education today has evolved; new-age education is all about actually empowering students and making them leaders in their chosen field, over and above imparting academic learning. This requires dedicated initiatives and efforts which have now begun to take shape in universities across the world. In this regard, CMR University Bengaluru has also established a dedicated Office of Student Affairs (OSA).

What does the Office of Student Affairs do?

The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) is dedicated to providing students with opportunities, support and resources through academic learning, Engagement and Advancement Programs (LEAP). LEAP programs, today, are the core of academic learning at CMR University where students are groomed to be leaders rather than mere professionals.

Office of student affair’s LEAP programs facilitate co-curricular activities, establish student centric learning environments and create diverse opportunities for community building, student welfare, and leadership.

In this regard, the Office of student affair drives students towards the following key outcomes:

  • Preparing for Success: Students are empowered to be prepared for successful and fulfilling careers.
  • Knowing Self & Community: Students will be able to understand themselves better and engage with issues across the globe.
  • Contributing to Society: Students will be able to develop and apply their skills, knowledge and resources for the greater community.

Here, it is worth noting that contribution to society is one of the most important outcomes of the LEAP programs deployed by the Office of Students Affairs at CMR University Bengaluru. This leads to identification of critical societal issues and working towards mitigation of these through dedicated focus.

Student-centric activities

The Office of Student Affairs, at CMR University, engages students through various activities such as:

  • CMRU Lead (Leadership Bootcamp & Summit) – The CMRU LEAD program aspires to build competent, empathetic and inclusive leaders by providing them with training opportunities and other resources. Students will be stepping into various leadership roles on campus, and the LEAP programs support their journey as they navigate their understanding of leadership and community on campus
  • CMRU Ambassadors – In this program, students are groomed to lead open house events, orientation week and other school and campus events. They are the point of contact for other students regarding various experiences, opportunities and events on campus.
  • CMRU Editorial – The CMRU Editorial team (led by students) works together with all schools, students and faculty to coordinate and manage newsletters, journal publications, whilst documenting the CMRU experience.

Social Impact

The Office of Student Affairs, through the above initiatives, aims at building social awareness through action to strengthen communities outside the university and develop a deeper understanding of the world we are living in. The key factor here is – all of these initiatives are led by students (with mentoring by expert faculty members) for student welfare.
