CMR UNIVERSITY CELEBRATES 73RD INDEPENDENCE DAY

The 15th of August every year is celebrated as Independence Day throughout the country as that was the day India gained its freedom. The day is celebrated with great joy and pomp as people pay their respects to all those freedom fighters and leaders who sacrificed their lives for this cause.

On this day every year, CMR University pays homage to all the patriots and leaders who sacrificed their lives for us. The same continued this year as well.

The Independence Day celebrations started with unfurling of the flag by our Chief Guest Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. M.S. Shiva Kumar who was escorted by the NCC Cadets followed by a formal program.

The master of the ceremony was Prithvi Raj, a B.A Hons student. The program commenced with a welcome speech by Ms. Ruksaar Raffiq, a final year B.Com student. This was followed by an inspiring speech by our Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. M.S. Shivakumar. He emphasized on the importance of remembering those great leaders who laid down their lives for our freedom. He also threw light on the various responsibilities we as citizens have towards our country. His speech was followed by the cultural programme.

The cultural programme began with a melodious song from Dharinee, a final year B.Com student, followed by a dance performance from Jincy and Sreya from the final year B.Com batch. It came to an end with an Odissi dance performance by Sreya, a first year B.A student.

After the completion of the cultural programme, certificates were distributed to the winners of the collage and poster making competition. The celebrations were concluded with an audio visual, as a tribute to the soldiers who risked their lives to protect our country.
