Ms.Bhagya U S, obtained BA from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore in Psychology, Economics and Sociology, and MSW from St. Josephs College, Bangalore with Community Development as specialization. Later on having developed a keen interest towards Counseling she went on to pursue her Post Graduate Diploma in Counseling Psychology from Sampurna Montfort, Bangalore. She has 2 years of teaching experience, one year completely into the field and another year she was employed in facilitating communication and English speaking skills for foreign students and teaching Indian Constitution classes. At CMR University, she has been teaching subjects like Urban and Rural Community Development, Counseling, Rehabilitation and Therapeutic Intervention, Basics of Criminology, and Social work skills for PG students in MSW, Participatory Rural Appraisal, and Human Rights etc.,. She has also coordinated and supervised several field work activities like ‘ Rural Immersion programme’ for the students of CMRU. She has been an active person throughout her academic career. She served as the NSS Secretary at Mount Carmel College working with the labor welfare department in generating Identity cards. She was also recognized for excellence in social work activities on campus and was awarded Principal’s prize for ” The Most Socially Aware Student of Mount Carmel College -2009-2011”. She has interned in various reputed NGO’s like Sangama, CRY, Action-Aid India, Stree Jagrithi Samithi and also in government organizations like Karnataka Information Commission. She has conducted several workshops on the importance of Mental Health and Work life balance in various government schools. She has participated in several national and international seminars on Social work related topics. She has also organized various events related to social concerns for the students of CMRU. She is keenly interested in exploring the psychosocial aspects of different communities towards development.
